The Warrior League is comprised of students entering the fifth (5th) and sixth (6th) grades in the Fall of 2006. Participants wear full equipment and follow the rules outlined below;

Unsportsmanship penalties for coaches and players:

Coaches:
One unsportsmanship flag on any coach will cause suspension for the remainder of the game and must leave the teams sidelines immediately. (No conversing with team or coaching staff until the game is final).

1) Removal of any coach from a game will result in:

(a) One game suspension (next game).
(b) Must turn in a written explanation to their coach’s director by Monday following the incident.
(c) The board will review the incident and decide if any other actions deemed necessary.

2) Second time during the year:

(a) The coach must leave the premises immediately.
(b) The coach will not be permitted to coach the team in practice or game situations the remainder of the year.


Players:
One (1) unsportsmanship flag on any player will cause immediate suspension for the remainder of the game.

1) Removal of any player from a game will result in:

(a) Immediate suspension from playing field for the remainder of game.
(b) One (1) game suspension (next game).

2) Second time during the year:

(a) Immediate suspension from the playing field for the remainder of the game.
(b) One (1) game suspension (next Game).
(c) The coach must submit a written explanation of player’s conduct to their coach’s director by Monday following the incident.
(d) The coach, parents and player must appear before the board.
(e) The board will review the incidents and decide if any other actions deemed necessary.

Practices: Practice locations to be determined by the board of directors:

1) Limit time - Two (2) hours of which the first ten minutes must be spent in warm up exercises.

(a) Teams can practice up to but no more than three (3) nights a week: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday only.
(b) Teams may practice on Saturday July 3oth and Aug. 6th for two hours (optional for players, will not be counted against them)
(c) No player may have contact for the first three (3) practices.
(d) No scrimmage or games outside league. (Failure to comply will result in immediate dismissal of coach).
(e) Practices will be held at the Sunny Heights Elementary Grade School "ONLY".

Game Rules: (I.H.S.A.A. RULES APPLY EXCEPT AS NOTED)

The suggested team limit is 14 players to a team.

1) Each team must have a minimum of ten (10) players on the field to start the game or:

(a) There will be no game.
(b) A  forfeit will be required during the playoffs.

2) A neutral board member must be present at all times in any game in which a team competes with less than eleven (11) players

(a) The neutral board member has the authority to terminate the game at any time.

(b) The game terminated by this rule is considered a forfeit, only during the playoffs.If the weather is a contributing factor this rule does not apply.

3) Every player in uniform must start on either offense or defense and play the entire game unless:

(a) Not permitted do to injury or illness.
(b) Player did not attend the minimum of 2 practices per week. (unless excused by the coach).


4) Prior to the start of all games including the playoffs and super bowl the coach must:

(a) Declare player not physically ready for play to the opposing coach and a board member.
(b) Penalty- failure to comply will result in a one game suspension of the Head Coach.

Only players that are 100 pounds and under can advance the ball:

1) One hundred and one (101lbs) through one hundred & sixty four (164lbs) must have a one (1”) inch wide by four (4”) inch long band on front and back of helmet to indicate the player is overweight limit.

(a) Overweight players cannot play in the backfield or at a tight end position even if they are not going to advance the ball.
(b) Overweight players cannot advance the ball if that player intercepts a pass or recovers a fumble.


2) One hundred (100lbs) and over must have two (2), one (1”) inch wide by four (4”) inch long bands on the front and back of their helmet to indicate the player is overweight limit.

(a) Double striper can only be down linemen. (Center, Guard or Tackle).

(b) Double striped players cannot play in the backfield or at a tight end position even if they are not going to advance the ball.
(c) Double striped players cannot advance the ball if that player intercepts a pass or recovers a fumble.

Running clock:

1) Each of the four (4) quarters are on a Ten (10) minute running clock that can only be stopped by the following:

(a) Up to Three (3) coaches time outs per half are permitted.
(b) An officials time out.
(c) Incomplete passes, penalties, out of bounds, and injury on the field. (Injured  player must leave field for one play).
(d) Clock will stop after every change of possession during the last two (2) minutes of the game.

2) Clock will re-start:
(a) At the snap of the ball.

Kickoffs:

1) Are from the fourty (40) yard line.

(a) The ball must go ten (10) yards before kicking team can recover the ball unless
(b
) Touched by the receiving team first.
(C) Stripers and double stripers cannot advance the ball.

Punting:
1) Live Punt:
(a) Coaches will not have to declare a punt.
(b) All players are eligible to punt the ball.
(c) Stripers and Double stripers may not punt or throw the ball, period.

(d) Striper and double stripers cannot advance the ball running.
(e) Defense may advance to block punt.
(f) Must be a direct snap from center. (Cannot move laterally)
(g) Defense may not line in “A” gap
(h) Blocked punt cannot be advanced by striper or double stripers.
(i) Blocked punt may be returned for a touchdown only by non-stripers.

Extra Points:

Extra point attempts are as follows:

(a) One (1) point conversions from the three (3) yard line.
(b) Two (2) point conversions from the five (5) yard line.


Filed Goals:

1) Field goal attempts are as follows:
(a) Field Goal will result in Three (3) points being scored.
(b) The snap will be a direct snap from center.
(c) Offense may fake their field goal attempt for a possible first down or touchdown.
(d) The field goal attempt will be a live kick.
(e) Defense may advance all 11 players in attempt to block the kick.
(f) No player will be permitted to line up over the center on the snap of the ball.
(g) No striper or double striper may advance blocked kick.
(h) Defense may advance the blocked kick by a non-striper for a touchdown resulting in six (6) points.
(i) If kick should fall short a non-striper may advance the ball for a touchdown resulting in six (6) points.

Defense:
1) Defense is limited by:
(a)  Teams Can only Play a 44 Defense with exception of:

·         Goal line Defense (All Goal Line Rules Apply)

·         Punts (All Punt Rules Apply)

(b)    No more than a four (4) man defensive line, with the exception of a goal line defense.
(c)   No player may line up in the “A” gap.
(d)    A goal line defense may begin inside the defenses 15 yard line; at this time a defense may place all 11 players on the line.
(e)    Stripers and double stripers cannot advance the ball.
(f)      Double stripers can only be nose guards, or defensive tackles.

Offense:

1) Offense is only limited by:

(a) Stripers and double stripers cannot advance the ball.
(b) Stripers and double stripers cannot play the tight end position.    
(c) Double stripers can only be down lineman.

Coaching:

1) Coaches are to observe play from the sidelines, except:
(a) During a time out.
(b) Two (2) coaches will be permitted on the playing field at a time.

2) Coaches will have:
(a) Forty (40) seconds between plays.
b) This will be strictly enforced by the third (3rd) game.

Uniforms:
1) All players are required to wear the following equipment during practices or games:

(a) Helmet with facemask.
(b) Mouthpiece (must be in during all activities).
(c) Shoulder pads (drawstring pulled tight and under arm straps, strapped).
(d) Football pants and pads (Two (2) hip pads, tale bone pad, two (2) thigh and knee pads) “MUST BE WORN IN PROPER LOCATIONS”
(e) Athletic supporter, protective cup optional.
(f) Molded to shoe rubber cleats.

2) Optional Equipment:

(a) Wrist to elbow arm guards, nothing between the fingers.
(b) Elbow pads of foam material only.
